Leather table runners, made to size

A leather table runner is the one piece on a dining table that is never put away. Ours are cut from a single hide — Crazy Horse or Italian Pueblo leather — and saddle-stitched by hand, so the runner lies flat, wipes clean after dinner and darkens slowly with the room’s light.

Every piece here is drawn, cut, edged and saddle-stitched by hand at our workbench in Istanbul — Zafer at the bench, Pınar at the drawing table. Most are made after you order, in the leather colour and size you choose.

About these pieces

Our table runners

The standard size is 150 × 40 cm (59 × 15.7 in), which suits a table for six. If your table is longer, narrower or round, send us its measurements: every runner is cut after you order, so a custom length costs us a conversation, not a compromise. Several runners carry circles of lace about 21 cm across, at the centre and both ends — hand-crocheted, or Turkish needle lace (iğne oyası) joined to the leather at the bench. That union of leather and lace is the signature of the atelier.

A runner pairs naturally with our leather placemats and napkin cuffs; the Journal explains how to style one without turning the table into a showroom.

Questions about table runners

Can you make a leather table runner to my table size?

Yes. Every runner is cut after you order. Write to us with the length and width of your table and we reply within one working day with a price and a delivery date.

Is a leather runner practical on a dining table?

Yes. Leather wipes clean with a damp cloth, does not need washing like linen, and the marks of use become part of its patina. Keep hot dishes on a trivet, as you would on wood.

What is the difference between Crazy Horse and Pueblo leather?

Crazy Horse is a waxed, pull-up leather that lightens where it is pressed and recovers with warmth. Pueblo is a dry, sanded Italian leather that starts matt and builds a deep patina.

Does the lace come off for cleaning?

The lace is stitched to the leather by hand. Spot-clean it gently; if a motif is ever damaged, we can unpick and replace it.
